Until recently I used the Leica Tele-Elmarit 90m f/2.8 lens as my main telephoto lens on the Sony A7s camera. It’s a great lens with super image quality and most important, it’s really tiny. Lately, I use more my Nikon 85mm f/1.8 G lens mostly to take advantage of the thinner Dof. The one stop difference does not mean that much to a high ISO performer like the A7s, but the depth of field of the f/1.8 lens makes a real difference. Being a DSLR lens, it’s much bigger than the Leica, but it’s also a very light lens and it’s image quality is really fantastic for its price.
For long walks or travel with the Sony A7s I have settled with the Nikon 24mm f/2.8, Voigtlander 50mm f/1.5 and the Nikon 85mm f/1.8 G. A small and light setup which covers most of my needs.
All images below were shot with Nikon 85mm.
