Sony NEX 5N revisited

The Sony NEX 5N is a camera that I have used a lot, but lately it was not part of my photo trips gear. Cameras like the Plaubel Makina 67 and the Fuji X100 were the ones preferred.

Since I decided to shoot more large format, I wanted to also have a digital camera with me which was light and could fit in a easy to carry camera bag. The NEX was idea for this.

In a medium size bag I can fit the following equipment: Sony NEX 5N, Sony 16mm,18-55,55-210 lenses and also my Voigtlander 50mm f/1.1 and either the Voigtlander 35mm f/1.4 or Leica Tele Elmarit 90mm f/2.8, depending on my needs. A wide range of lenses which fit in the bag and still a relatively light equipment to carry.

The 55-210 telephoto lens is great for reaching to distant subjects and although the speed and image quality are not top notch, I find it a very useful lens. It also has stabilization which is very helpful.

An image shot with the Voigtlander 50mm f/1.1 lens. The focus peaking makes focusing very easy and its one of my most used lenses on the NEX. I also own the Sony e mount 50mm f/1.8, but I always prefer to use the Voigtlander.

The NEX comes with many filters presets, a very fast motor drive and the EVF is excellent (although it is prone to damage if you are not careful). It also has great high ISO performance and it behaves very well with my Voigtlander 15mm and 21mm wide lenses. This was one of the main reasons I chose it over the NEX 7.

I consider the 5N to be fantastic travel camera and every time I use it I am very happy for the results I get.

Enjoy the rest of the images.
