A cold and windy day at the beach, means that you are on your own and have the opportunity to make some images. I had the Sony NEX 5N under no ideal weather conditions, it got lots of salt water spray due to strong wind, but it did fine. A little cleaning was necessary when I returned home, and of course the whole I was using filters on the lenses (which needs constant cleaning every five minutes).
The high contrasty scene was a challenge to frame , even for the great EVF of the 5N. The screen of course was almost useless. I really think a LCD loupe (the ones that usually videographers use) would be a great tool for situations like this.
Taking a camera are the beach with conditions like this, is really a challenge. A good idea would be to cover the camera with a plastic bag or something like that, since I had some close calls with the splashing waves which thankfully only affected my clothing. Sea water sprays and sand is really a bad combination for your gear ! On the other hand, if you don’t get close enough, you may not get the picture (a paraphrase of the famous Kapra quote, of course there’s nothing in common with a splashing wave and flying bullets !!)
Enjoy the rest of the images.
