Kodak Portra 800 is a fast color negative film. It allows shooting in available light or helps with medium format cameras where I can set a smaller aperture to gain depth of field. I rate it at ISO 640. Even at 6×7, there is evident grain, but the colors are great.
This was my last Portra 800 film (and if I remember well it was expired). I am not renewing my stash, since with digital I can easily get beautiful color images at ISO 800 with minimal noise. I will turn to the new Portra 400 for medium format, which is a great film with superb dynamic range and fine grain. It can easily be shot at 400 ISO, so its a film to choose over the 800.
