Street images

Every now then I like to take a look at my archives for old images. Many times, I rediscover images which I like very much, gather them and post them. Some of them, I have already posted them in my blog, but they are old articles, so I repost them as a refresh to my site.

Today, I have some old street images from the time I was practicing street photography. I rarely shoot street images these days, so today’s post is a change from my usual subjects.

(Olympus XA, Kodak BW400CN film)

(Fuji X100)

My favorite camera for street images was the Leica M (both digital M8 and film camera M7, the M7 of course was my first choice). The vast majority of my street shots are black and white, so a black and white film like the Kodak TRI-X 400 was most of the times loaded in my camera. Other cameras I have used are the tiny rangefinder Olympus XA and the Ricoh GX200 for rainy days, due to its superb ergonomics that allowed me to operate everything single handed.

I have done some shots with the Fuji X100, but I don’t own this camera anymore (there was no reason owning both a Leica M8 and Fuji X100).

Some of my favorite street images have also been shot with the Plaubel Makina 67. Although its a highly portable camera, the Makina drew attention when unfolded, and although that lead to some very good discussions with people who were interested to find out about this camera, it didn’t he in getting spontaneous shots.

So, these are the images for today, I will keep searching my archive to find more old photos.
