Sony NEX 5N with Yashica 50mm f1.4 lens

Recently I had the chance to take some images with an old Yashica ML 50mm f1.4 lens which I borrowed from a friend. I had never mounted a SLR lens on my NEX so it was a good chance to try one. The adapter is considerably larger than the one I use for my Leica and Voigtlander lenses which is obvious since SLR camera have mirrors. So, the whole combo looked quite larger than my usual setup.
Since the 50mm is a prime lens the whole size was OK for me, and I really liked the out of focus rendering of this particular lens. As a result of this testing, I ordered an adapter for my Nikon primes. I will mostly use the Nikon 24mm f2.8 lens on the NEX since its has very good image quality, it has an aperture ring (I really like aperture selection the old way) and it will “turn” to a 36mm focal length lens which is something I miss on the NEX. Furthermore it will me give me the chance to try the mighty Nikkor 135mm f2 DC lens against my old Leica 135mm f4. That should be an interesting comparison.

All images below we’re taken with the NEX 5N and Yashica 50mm f1.4, not the best compositions but it shows the beautiful bokeh of this lens wide open.
