Going super wide with Voigtlander Super Wide Heliar 15mm f4.5

The Voigtlander Super Wide Heliar 15mm f4.5 (that’s a long name!) is a wonderful lens for the Leica M system. Great image quality and affordable price for those moments when you want to shoot with a very wide angle.

I mostly use it on film since on the M8 turns to a 20mm lens. Shooting with a wide angle like this requires some special attention, like watch for the levels (both horizontal and vertical) in order to avoid distortion. But most of the times I just shoot with it, distortion can also create some interesting images.

I have also used it with the Sony NEX camera, a much better lens compared to the NEX 16mm f2.8 pancake lens (no autofocus of course and slower, but much better image quality).

The following images were shot with the Voigtlander 15mm with a Leica M7 loaded with Ilford XP2 400 b&w film.
